Best meal I have had in Utah!

*Amazing service, our waiter was polite, professional, knew the menu very well, and had a great sense of humor *The restaurant itself is located in a beautiful area, do visit the small waterfall across from the valet parking booth *The food was fantastic, one of the best meals I had during my stay at Salt Lake City *I highly recommend trying their specialty drinks.

Log Haven is a great restaurant. The food is prepared wonderfully and the atmosphere and scenery are unmatched. If you don't mind dropping a few bucks, this is the place for any special occasion! My wife and I were married here and return every year for our anniversary. Our latest visit was 8/12/15. We each ordered an appetizer; me the tuna tartare and her the green salad with ginger vinaigrette. The tuna was very good, chunks of purple tuna sandwiched between a miso-sesame tuile over cubed avocado and marinated mushrooms. This was perfect! Her salad was also very good with the ginger dressing a key. Our entrees consisted of the buffalo steak for me and the halibut for her. Both were very good, but her halibut took first prize of the two - flavored with dill butter and tomato water with tangy ricotta dumplings. My steak should have been ordered rare, not that the medium rare I ordered was poorly done or wrong, but the presentation demands a bit rarer order that what I asked for. Again, they cooked what I told them too - my preference in the future would be a shade underdone. Dessert consisted of a mascarpone cheesecake and a frozen soufflé. I could have easily eaten both of them alone they were so tasty. Their coffee is also very good. Our waitress was great. She knew the menu and the complexities of the dishes. Offered suggestions without being pushy. Front desk great. Valet is free but clearly appreciated the tips. Valet was necessary to give the small amount of non-valet parking.

Cons - when my aunt requested the reservation, she requested by the window and the hostess said ok but she can't guarantee anything but she will make a note. When they confirm the reservation the same day, there's no note about the request. The table is rocky. For what I had to pay for, we shouldn't be sitting like that at all. Pros - food is delicious. I ordered surf n turf. Red wine sauce is the highlight. Also lychee martini is the bomb

Great setting, very romantic. great service. The menu could be more original. The halibut was a little tasteless. But the pork and sauce was very good. Have been here for a couple of weddings in the summer. Beautifully done.

Beautiful place with great service and food! A little far up into the mountains but worth the scenic drive. They also have a very beautiful water fall across the restaurant in the valet parking lot (free valet for guests). Definitely the place for a romantic evening out.

Amazing ambiance and amazing food! Went here with a big group of people, so I was lucky enough to taste a little bit of everything from their menu. Highlights: Truffle nachos, bison, and the butterscotch dessert. Although again, I did enjoy every single dish I tried there. Flavours were very rich and also quite unique with some of the dishes. Everything was cooked perfectly, even a medium cooked bison (which I told my friend I was nervous about since the server suggested to get it rare or medium rare). Despite being medium, it was still soft and melted in your mouth. I'm drooling over my keyboard just thinking about it. Also had the scallops over risotto which was divine, and mind you, as someone who can make a killer risotto herself, I am very picky when it comes to risotto, and their risotto meets my standards. For dessert, my favourite was the butterscotch creme brulee with lava salt. The mix of sweet and salty is PERFECTION. The service was really good. Jeremy I believe was his name was very helpful and informative, and despite that this was a fancier establishment, it was so refreshing to be served by someone who didn't hesitate to joke around and chat it up with us. The ambiance is great and the scenery is beautiful! Definitely a great place for a romantic date and they have a pianist who plays music from different genres, so that was also pretty entertaining. Was thinking about removing one star because I wasn't too impressed with their drink and wine selection, and also when I ordered tea, they gave me a pot, however, it seemed like the pot was only able to hold a cup and a half (it's like, why bother giving me the pot then? :( ). However, all the positive things about this place more than made up for these, so I kept it at 5 stars. I will DEFINITELY be back, and I can't wait to be back!

The food was good, but service not so much. My company spends thousands here every year and my last visit was very disappointing. Multiple members of my party were served the wrong entrees. Some could be shuffled to the correct person, but in one person's case the dish was entirely wrong and he had to wait once again for the correct entree to be prepared. Also, I requested change from the bartender so I could tip the valet - she was reading a book and still refused to get up and give me change, this despite me dropping more than $1000 on our dinner tab. This is completely unacceptable service for a high end restaurant.

They really go the extra mile to give you the dream wedding reception you have invisioned on your mind!!

A must stop when visiting the area. The food is out of this world, the atmosphere incredible and the service was the finest. Apparently the locals know this place and I would not be surprised if they don't want visitors to know. A beautiful drive through a national park and you find this treasure. Don't fret the entry fee to the park, the restaurant will give you a voucher to leave for free. I have visited more 4 diamond restaurant s than I can count and none have been as remarkable as Log Haven. Some highlights: venison tartare, an unbelievable pork loin with a polenta cake, and coconut/pineapple soufflé. Ask for Kacey and get the best service around. Beautiful waterfall, gorgeous location, wonderfully restored and decorated with chefs who should be commended. Will be back and will be sending all of my friends and business associates.

Ambiance and service is top-notch. Some of the best in Utah. The food? Some odd flavors and some overdone, but we still really enjoyed our experience. Our visit in March for our anniversary was our first time to Log Haven. The atmosphere is amazing and really quite impressive. They have live music on the weekends and the pianist was the perfect romantic touch. The service is perfect - we were seated by the host in the romantic waiting area by the piano and enjoyed a quiet moment before being seated, and our server was professional, knew everything about the menu and gave us wine suggestions, and had perfect timing checking in (enough but not too much). Though it was busy when we were there, the tables are spaced well in the dining room and we always felt we had enough privacy. The whole restaurant (including the restrooms) is beautiful, clean, and cozy. It manages to feel like a rustic cabin getaway and a glitzy four-star restaurant with a view at the same time. I have not experienced better service anywhere else in Utah - Log Haven is really unparalleled. Our food and drinks were very good but we felt some of it was just missing those final detailed touches and some was just overdone. - My husband's wine (a riesling, if I remember correctly) was very good - great pairing by our waitress. - Alpine nachos for appetizer - house chips, forest mushrooms, speck, fontina - everyone raves about them and they were very delicious but we felt way over-salted and so rich that the portion size should have been much smaller (it filled a whole dinner plate). - Arugula salad, with avocado, pine nuts, Grana Padano, lemon and olive oil - simple and very well-executed, if a little salty as well. - Citrus-Achiote Grilled Organic Chicken with aged jack-jalapeno grits, pickled cabbage, charred "pico" coulis - because I had to order fully-cooked meat, I was limited in my options and couldn't order the steak, but the chicken came highly recommended by the waitress. I hated to say this, but I just was not happy with it. The flavors were strange and seemed confused - was it southwest/Mexican or classic American? Sweet or savory or smoky or all of the above? It was hard to put my finger on it, and even though I took leftovers home, I was not excited to eat them the next day either and didn't finish them (I never waste fancy food!) The grits and the cabbage were also unexpected flavors. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the whole dish, and wished I'd ordered something different. - Butterscotch Pot De Cream for dessert was fantastic. It was silky, perfectly crunchy on top, with wonderfully subtle butterscotch flavors that were somehow both rich and light at the same time. It was so good it almost completely redeemed any disappointment we felt in the rest of the meal. We will definitely be back to Log Haven to try some of their other dishes and to enjoy the amazing service and ambiance. It's the perfect place for a special occasion and a leisurely romantic dinner.

We wanted fine dining so we chose this place. Te scenery was beautiful, the food was different. It wasn't spectacular but it was ok. I thought it was a little over price but overall we had a good experience. The dessert was my favorite. We had the coconut banana soufflé.

Log Haven has become one of my new favorites in SLC. We parked in the lot across the street where there's a beautiful waterfall. We had dinner at 7:30 on a June Tuesday night. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the small waterfall. There weren't too many others having dinner at that time so it was quiet and relaxing. They also had outdoor heaters which put off just enough heat to keep me warm in my dress. The man that "greeted" us upon arrival wasn't that welcoming yet it looked like he'd be a manager or someone in charge the way he was dressed & seated at the bar when we left. I was initially turned off as he was the first person we saw when we walked in the door and he seemed quite cold. Perhaps we caught him off-guard at that moment. Fortunately, that's the only negative I have about the place and I'd certainly return despite it. Hartley was our server and he was excellent! He's Very knowledgeable about everything on the menu from the wines to dessert. He did not lead us astray with any of his suggestions. He also has a bit of humor in his interactions which made us smile. Perfect timing in attention to us but not overly so. I hope we get him as our server again in the future! We had the tuna tartare to start and it was very flavorful and definitely enough for two. We each had the sirloin & lobster for our entree and both were happy with our choice. We skipped desserts though Hartley made them sound heavenly, we were stuffed. He brought out two little chocolates, guessing that we might be celebrating something (which we were) & even those little chocolates were delicious! It's not a place we could afford to hit up every week but we will be back & likely take visitors as it's a great drive up and the atmosphere there is wonderful. Also, they give you validation so you do not have to pay when leaving the canyon.

This place is nestled in one of the prettiest spots in Millcreek Canyon. Breathtaking views all throughout. Had been raining all day so the waterfall across the street was quite the site. Had heard about the restaurant a number of times so we thought we would give it a shot. Best part about our experience was the wilderness beauty and romantic ambiance. This historic log mansion set in The Wasatch National Forest is a must see for any outdoor enthusiast. Food: Pretty good all around. Nothing out of this world and our favorite dish was, believe it or not, the Alpine Nachos. Not your ordinary fine dining appetizer but trust me, you need to try them! Unlike any other nachos you've had. Sweet Greens salad was good, again, nothing spectacular. Main course for me was the Grilled Lamb Rack. Fairly disappointed in the portion size but good flavors. Cactus leaf was a first for me. If you're debating this place, go give it a shot. It's worth it.

We've been to Log Haven a few times for a nice dinner and the food is only marginal especially compared to the price. You are paying for the scenery. For weddings, the customer service is horrible. In the end it was a blessing they cancelled our reservation three weeks before the wedding. We ended at Millcreek Inn and it was great food and beautiful scenery plus the staff was amazing. Won't go back to Log Haven again.

Oh my goodness. Where to begin? This restaurant should be on the bucket list of any SLC resident. We sat on the patio for dinner. Absolutely gorgeous views of the canyon. The piano player serenaded us as we dined. Service is impeccable. It makes for a very romantic date, where you have the chance to talk and slowly enjoy your meal. The food has obvioiusly been carefully crafted, down to minor details. My friend had a steak that was cooked perfectly. It was so tender it nearly fell apart. I had a pasta dish that had homemade noodles. We finished it off by sharing dessert, which again, was AMAZING. I could go on and on about Log Haven, but the only way to truly get a feel for the place is to experience it yourself. You won't regret it. Tips: Have a reservation, and remember that there is a small fee when exiting Milcreek Canyon. Enjoy!

We have been to Log Heaven many times. It has been a very nice place. We usually order steak and lobster there. We enjoyed most of our visits. Therefore we have been there at least once a year for many years. We just celebrated our friends' 45th wedding anniversary there yesterday. We all had steak and lobster again. We had such a good time this visit , not only because of good companies but also for other reasons. Our waiter, Guy, was the very best that anyone can hope for. His timing of services, the knowledge of the menu and his friendliness were all perfect. In the past, the lobsters were good but not necessary perfect. This time we all agreed that the lobsters were cooked to perfection. Three out of the 4 steaks were perfect as well. The fourth one was slightly on the medium side, rather than medium rare as ordered. Guy saved the day by replaced it immediately and very nicely. So, maybe I should give a five star. Regrettably, I can not do so because I did not love the coconut banana soufflé. Never had Alpine Nacho there before. However, many of the Yelp reviewers loved it. So we ordered one to share this time. Yes, it was very nice. I do recommend this place for any occasion. And we will be back.
(4)Ann J.
One of my favorite restaurants in Utah. The food and service are excellent. And their canyon location does not get much better. I highly recommend dining here. Be sure to get the Alpine Nachos. They are worth every calorie.

Went here for anniversary dinner. I didn't expect to be so out of the city, but I loved to go out of the everyday life for fine dining in nature. The atmosphere is very romantic. It's out in the forest, so there are a lot of weddings in the summer. The service is exceptional and the food is also great. Some fine dining restaurants disappoint me either by their atmosphere, service, or food, but Log Haven fulfills every aspect of fine dining. We had Bison and also their special of the day "steak and lobster." The meat were very juicy and made me feel like I'm at a fine dining restaurant. Valet parking is also provided for free. If any of you want to earn some brownie points from your significant other, Log Haven is the place to go to!

I would give Log Haven more stars, but the food is just A-OK. For the price, you expect another level. More on that in a bit. The service is top notch. You can't beat the setting. The lodge is beautiful in it's natural setting. We really enjoyed walking around the grounds and wandering through the lodge. We dined later in the evening, so it was not crowded at all. Now for the downside, though really not that bad at all. I just expected a bit more. When you are paying these prices for plates, you expect them to be excellent. The food was good, not great. The first thing I noticed was all the great pairings. I wanted to order just a bunch of the accompaniments. Many of them sounded excellent. It was hard to decide what to order, not for the entree, but for the sides. I decided on the salmon with horse radish creme in a cucumber broth and purple potatoes. I was expecting a great piece of salmon cooked perfectly with a nice horse radish flavor. The salmon was over. I really wish I knew what to do when something like that happens. It was not much over, but enough. Just not perfect. The horse radish creme was almost non existent. There was some foam on the fish, but no real bang of horse radish flavor you expect. I expected a big horse radish flavor balanced by the cucumber broth. The broth was nice. It was exactly that. Water with a slight cucumber flavor. Really nothing to Yelp about.... My wife had the surf and turf special. The lobster was cooked very well. The steak was ok. My son-in-law had the Pork. It really looked good and he seemed to enjoy it. I wish I had ordered that. Not sure there will be a next time, but if so, I am going with the pork. I see a lot of great reviews for this place, so I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are looking for something special. Maybe a romantic evening. Most are not as picky as I am about fine dining, so you will probably be happy. If you are a fine dining restaurant, you have to pay attention to every detail. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case at Log Haven.

This place is delicious and so beautiful! I would highly recommend this spot for a romantic date night. The octopus and calamari and elk carpaccio were yummy! I had the scallops and risotto for entree which was so good. The risotto was the highlight by far. My husband had the steak which was ok, but nothing to rave about.
(5)Carol R.
My husband and I went to Log Haven to celebrate our anniversary. The location is beautiful and a wedding was also going on that day. Not surprising as it is a very popular wedding site. It is sort of "formula fancy/romantic," yet rustic. Somehow, I wasn't expecting an exceptional meal. However, it was wonderful! Everything we ordered (per our server's recommendations) was delicious: the tuna tartare app, the pork, and Piedmontese steak entrees were all very flavorful and the blend of ingredients and seasonings was really impressive. We went on the early side and brought a bottle of special wine as we were planning on a leisurely meal. The only knock is that the service felt rushed. The appetizer came quickly, and before we were done with that, the entrees arrived. Not what we were wanting for a special occasion meal, but all in all, it was good.

After my first visit back to Log Haven in maybe 15 or more years (and after having my wedding reception here over 30 years ago, and after many special family dinners here over the last 40+ years,) our dinner for my family of five a few nights back was a serious disappointment. Let me cut to the chase: Food: In no way was the food that was served of the quality that we would expect of Log Haven. Considering the very high prices charged by this establishment, the value received was minimal. More on the cost of the dinner in a second. My son and I both had the evening's dinner special...a supposed 20 oz. t-bone with re-fried beans, a special salsa, all drizzled with some wine/fruit reduction. First, it was nowhere near the advertised 20 oz. size. Second, although it tasted good, the meat was extremely tough, sinewy, and required extra effort with the supplied steak knife. After the dinner was over I mentioned it to our waitress. Her response was that, "...it was probably the 'marbling'"...ummm, no. Marbling is fat...this t-bone didn't have that intramuscular fat like the typical ribeye steak. THAT kind of fat is easy to cut through. This meat was just of low quality...sinewy and chewy. No 'marbling' to speak of. And the filet side of the t-bone was MIA. The lobster tails that my wife and mother-in-law both ordered were just plain puny (I glanced over at my wife's plate and could not tell the difference between the scoop of mashed potatoes, and the lobster tail.) To add insult to injury, the kitchen actually served 'top sirloin' steak with the lobster tail, instead of a filet. What's up with that? Top sirloin? Isn't that what goes into hamburger? Oh, and the top sirloin (along with the aforementioned t-bone) was tough and chewy too. And a single roll per person? Why not just put the whole roll basket on the table? So it seems to me that Log Haven has a problem with their quality of beef. They source a lot of wild meats (venison, bison...) from unique specialty farms, so why does it seem like they going to the local grocery store for their t-bone steaks...and top sirloin? Service: "Laid back California" good. Not 'outstanding' service, just good, adequate, responsive service. Dessert: After dinner, we left to celebrate my birthday with cake at home, so we did not eat dessert there. But knowing it was my birthday...what did Log Haven bring out for me as a final surprise? A small 1" x 1" boxed truffle on a plate with lit candle [insert sound of crickets chirping here]. Cost: OK, so yeah, I get it. I know it was going to cost a lot...but my 'quality of food' expectations were very high based upon our many previous visits. However, after all was said and done, it is my humble opinion that Log Haven is substantially overpriced for the quality of food received. With dinner for five, numerous adult beverages, a few salads, and a nice gratuity, the dinner came to over $300.00. I would have honestly rather spent that kind of money at Ruth's Chris, or up at the Steak Pit at Snowbird, as I really think we would have been served a much better meal. Hell, I'd even take Texas Roadhouse for a consistently higher quality steak (albeit eating in what amounts to a live country western concert...) Ambiance: Still as outstanding as it was in the 70's...the 80's (when my wife and I had our 1980's wedding reception there), and throughout the many renovations and upgrades since 1994. Dining in a beautiful log cabin in a breathtaking canyon is really tough to beat. Summary: Some nice upsides (ambiance, service) that were overcome by some very large downsides (food quality, portion size.) Both my family, and my wife's family, have enjoyed some seriously wonderful dinners here in past 40 years, but last night's event was substandard. It seems to me that there is something going on with the chefs and managers that plan, prepare, and provide such underwhelming plates to the customers (cutting corners to save a buck here and there?) Maybe Log Haven just caters to a younger, more forgiving crowd instead of us 'older' folks who have patronized Log Haven since the 70's. And maybe they actually like the quality of food that is provided...but I doubt that. So for those folks who are regulars, and have had consistently better meals at Log Haven, then good for you. For you new patrons...let the buyer beware. I am going to take my money and go elsewhere. I hope Margo considers my comments, takes them for what it's worth, and maybe even shares this with her team at their next staff meeting. Thanks to Mr. Rains, the Miller family, Mr. Sprouse, and of course, Margo, the Log Haven ambiance is there...now the focus must shift back to the food.

My first time here I ordered the Peppered center New York Steak, I thought the portion was very small for how expensive the dish is. It tasted great but I couldn't get over how little I got. The second time around maybe 2 years later I ordered the Ribeye with fries and brussel sprout and it was amazing. Every bite melts in your mouth! So soft and tender even though I got my med-well. Very flavorful and probably the best steak I will ever taste. The size of that thing is huge I couldn't finish it all. But the best part about the dish has to be the brussel sprouts! They are so flavorful and I was trying to eat them slowly so I can taste every bite. The location is beautiful a bit of a drive but well worth it. I just wish the walk way is easier because if you are wearing high heels its scary to walk up and down.

We came in for a celebratory night, nothing special, just a fun night and they blew our doors off! Everything was excellent! The service, the wine, our table, the food. It was all spectacular. We had reservations, but had run a little bit late, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were sat and we had a view of the waterfall across the way. It was gorgeous and set the stage for a beautiful evening. We started with the tuna tartare and a glass of Pinot Gris and they went perfectly together. The tuna was awesome! Nice chunks with lots of flavor. Next we both had the butter lettuce salad and enjoyed them. For entrees, we had the duck and the bison. The duck was tender and juicy with tons of flavor. The pappardelle noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce that was on it all was very rich. It was amazing. Te bison was also great. Cooked perfectly and tender. It came with flash fried brussel sprouts that had been soaked in balsamic and they were incredible. Paired with the steak, it was perfect! Dessert was the coconut banana soufflé and the butterscotch brûlée. Both were great, but the butterscotch brûlée was crazy good! It stole the show. The soufflé was different and it came cool, almost like a nice cream, but good nonetheless. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it! The ambience is perfect for a great night out. My girlfriend says it's her new favorite restaurant.
(5)Joshua V.
Stunning location that's lovely to visit throughout the year... Food is awesome. And the dessert is off-the-freaking-chain, with an abundance of too-delicious choices. Hit this gem up if you'd love a novel, "quick getaway" experience.
(5)Kara H.
Cabin had flies everywhere inside. Our charger plates had dust and bug wings on them. I ordered the steak and lobster. The lobster was chewy and steak was average. I'd say it was equivalent to Outback Steakhouse. My salad was scrumptious though. Overall, the flavors needed to be elevated for what I paid. Nice atmosphere, it's probably lovely in the winter time.

I'm new to the area, visiting on business. Had the opportunity to have dinner at Log Haven. Gorgeous restaurant in the middle of the national forest, waterfall across the road. Dimly lit, roaring fire, the inside looks like a log cabin. I had the sea bass, and highly recommend. The staff was amazing and I had a great time.

I'm writing this on the eve of my fantastic wedding held at Log Haven. What can I say that people don't already know: the food is delicious and the area is gorgeous. If that were all Log Haven had to offer, I wouldn't be writing this review, and certainly wouldn't be giving it 5 stars. I'm not the type of person to write positive reviews or voice complaints, but I had to share my story here. The day before our outdoor wedding, we were deeply concerned that the weather was going to be an issue. A storm came through Salt Lake a few days earlier and wasn't letting up. Before my fiancé and I could even begin to fret, Faith & Kacey, two of Log Haven's finest staff members, had already planned for issues such as these. On the day of the event, they setup *two* full ceremonies for us: one in the meadow where we would be married if the weather improved, and one under covered-patio if the weather remained as it were. 200 chairs for 100 guests, 30 tables when only 15 were needed, two full-service bars instead of one, the list goes on and on. In an amazing turn of events, the storm stopped, and our outdoor wedding went according to plan. Faith & Kacey were checking in with my wife and I every 30 minutes or so, asking if we needed anything, and continually filling our drinks. Food was spectacular - multiple guests told us that the lemon caper chicken was the best chicken they'd ever had. Our live band fit in so well with the surroundings, and our photographer was so pleased to take photos in an area as beautiful as Millcreek Canyon. Log Haven went above and beyond what most venues would do for their guests. Be respectful to the staff members, and they'll help in any way that they can to make your special day *truly* special.

A little off the beaten path and well worth the short drive up the canyon. I like to take my wife here for special occasions. The location is beautiful and the waterfall just across the street is nice. I tried to make reservations for our anniversary but was sad to find out they were closed for a private event. I have never had a bad bite of food here. Everything has always been great. Log Haven is an easy 5 stars.
(5)Danielle S.
This place is fantastic! Event though we got there at 9, the latest time for a reservation, the service was top notch. The food is phenomenal as well and the location, though tucked back a little far, is GORGEOUS. I HIGHLY recommend it!
(5)Elizabeth T.
My husband and I love to go out for fine dining for special occasions and make it a habit to try new places every time. This is by far the best restaurant we have ever been to. The drive through the canyon to Log Haven is intimate and beautiful They offer FREE valet parking The restaurant itself is in a stunning wooded area, the most beautiful location and a gorgeous building. Staff are polite, inviting, explain the history of the restaurant The food is decadent and I was shocked that the prices are more than fair for such incredible dishes Our waiter was so kind to thank my husband for his military service as well, which I found to be a lovely gesture Overall I could not give a higher recommendation if you're looking for special place to dine.
(5)Marsha M.
Went to dinner here in the evening for a Christmas work party with a 5:30pm reservation. There were 8 of us so the large square table made it possible for us all to visit. I liked that. The waitress was attentive and helpful. Our dining experience was quite long, with all the different courses. They do not rush you through the meal. The piped in music was annoying because we must have been by a speaker, the live piano music later in the evening was beautiful. I must say I was expecting for the price that the food would be amazing, it was good, but not a wow, not worth the price they charge.
(3)Oscar O.
Was thinking about doing a wedding here. The food is not great and the atmosphere is dark and lame. This place is not for me.
(3)Julie V.
I have a love-hate-hate relationship with Log Haven... The first time I came here, it was a definite 5 stars for me. Vinh H and I loved it. Food and service were amazing and just everything we could have wished that Log Haven would be. They started by asking if we'd ever been there, recommending all sorts of heavenly items, and even topped it off with a chef made truffle in celebration of my birthday! We had the elk, duck pasta, bison, bourbon ice cream over their decadent chocolate cake, and everything tasted amazing and felt great. It was smiles all around, and it easily became my favorite restaurant in Utah. It was in January when there was still plenty of snow, so we even visited the waterfall across the street and enjoyed the scenery. It was just the perfect night to start off my birthday week. From there, I'd recommended the restaurant to many friends who all loved it! The second time I came here was with Timo K and Alyce V. The food was really good, but the service was terrible. We arrived and were seated. I had written on the reservation that it was Timo K's birthday and reminded the hostess discretely--I was assured the waitress would know. The waitress introduced herself, didn't show any sort of kindness, told us that everything was good when we asked her for recommendations, took our order, and later gave us some bread to start off. She was very cold. She asked if we'd like a refill on the bread and given it was so delicious, it was a definite YES PLEASE! She didn't bring out the bread until dessert time, but by then, we don't want anymore bread! I understand if they made the bread in rounds fresh, but if it was going to take half an hour, she should have at least told us, so we wouldn't go off thinking she simply forgot. She only refilled our water once after we had asked twice, and when she did refill it, she spilled water all over the birthday boy Timo K's phone and even his pants. She quickly wiped it off without a single apology, and Timo being the kind guy he is pretended it didn't happen. It left us feeling very uncomfortable, and to top it off, she never said happy birthday to Timo or bring him a chef made truffle like I had on my birthday! Of course, the food was good, and we tried a few desserts which were all good--the coconut souffle that they had was so good and so was the chocolate lava cake and chef made ice cream. Yummmm, but the service was such a disappointment. The third time I came here was with Vinh H. The service was decent but the food was not. With reservations prior, we still had to wait 10 minutes before getting seated. The entire time, we were dwindling our thumbs making eye contact with various waitresses until one finally acknowledged our presence. The waitress who saved us from that awkward 10 minutes was kind, introduced herself, and was enthusiastic about the menu. We ordered the recommended sweet bread which was veal gland battered and didn't actually enjoy that very much. I had the month's special Piedmont steak and lobster, which was a great disappointment to me. The "medium rare" steak was overcooked and had no pink part to it. When I brought it to the waitress' attention, she said it was the lighting outside that made it look like it wasn't pink. She then quickly said if the taste doesn't convince me, she'll gladly exchange it. I asked for the exchange. It came back out 20 minutes later after Vinh H had already finished his meal, and it looked like it had barely even been seared. I couldn't have more than 1 maybe 2 bites, and Vinh had to finish it. The quality of the meat was a huge disappointment. The lobster was cooked perfectly though and the salad that came with it was also quite good. The steak just ruined it all for me though. Vinh also ordered steak, but his was overcooked. He realized it after I had already asked for mine to be exchanged, so he didn't want to ask for his to be exchanged as well. The steak he ordered to be medium rare was burnt and dry. On the upside, the waitress was kind enough to offer us a couple's chef made truffle due to the bad steak experience. She then realized that it was our anniversary, and it turned out the hostess didn't mention it to her. This last dinner at Log Haven was the day before our Vegas trip where we had a handful of restaurants in mind to try out, but unfortunately, I think I got food poisoning from the meat. I felt so sick after that restaurant and for the next 3 days, I couldn't eat much more than yogurt and maybe gaufrette potato chips from Mon Ami Gabi (my all time favorite brunch place in Vegas) at the most. The experience left me so disappointed with Log Haven that I don't know if it's worth a fourth experience. Given how wonderful my first experience was, I wanted to give it a third shot...but unfortunately, Log Haven didn't deliver. Tip: I'd recommend the duck pasta, elk, bison, and dessertsss--they're all good! Avoid the steak.

I don't give 5s a lot...this place was awesome. Beautiful location and excellent food!!!!

Last night I had the opportunity of taking a group of 13 people to Log Haven for dinner. In the party were people from Chicago, Dallas, Indianapolis, and Atlanta. The evening couldn't have gone better. It was a perfect night so we chose to sit outside on the patio near the waterfall. The two servers we had were spectacular: friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and fast. Each dish served was delicious, but the bison steak was particularly well received by the group. And if you like vegetables, the heirloom carrots and the roasted Brussels sprouts are an excellent choice. Fantastic ambience...great restaurant...tremendous wait staff. Well done.

I was visiting Salt Lake City for the first time and wanted to have a nice dinner here. Yelp helped me decide on Log Haven. I was not disappointed at all and was blown away with the surrounding, the food, and the service!! The service definitely made the experience. We got the bison steak and pork tenderloins. The meat was extremely tender and the vegetables on the side were all o so fresh. If you're around the area and don't mind spending a bit more, this place is definitely worth it!

I simply stated it would be less expensive to make a trip out there, than pay the up sell and hidden taxed amounts at your place. We're still not wed. Your contract is a contract. But it is a misleading unethical contract. I had it looked over by two attorneys. And that's the way they described it.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last year. Food was ok. Not super impressive like I was hoping for on such a special night. Service was decent. It was very cold where we were seated which made for an uncomfortable dinner. We most likely will not go back. There are much better places around for the dollar amount.

Beautiful setting to compliment the beautiful meal. We tried the grilled calamari, caprese salad, ribeye, buffalo, and mint chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious and cooked exactly how we ordered it. The service was fantastic and attentive. One of the highlights was the live, perfectly complimentary, piano accompanying dinner on the patio. Everything from the location to the food to the service and decor made this place feel special. We sat on the patio and when it got chilly they turned the patio heaters on and offered my wife a blanket. Everything was very nice.

I love the atmosphere and the food is great! I would recommend the tuna tartar and the Calamari to start. The scallops are always delicious!

I had a pretty bad experience at this restaurant on my birthday in April. The food was terrible, the service was terrible, and the drinks and bread never arrived. I wrote the restaurant a nice LONG email on their feedback page hoping they would contact me as I had heard so much about how great they were. I never ever heard back from anyone. I give a star for the location Everything else was a failure in my view from management to the food. A very expensive disappointment.

The first time my husband and I went here was with a gift card from my in-laws to celebrate our engagement. We went in late June and sat outside on the patio. Food was pretty dang good, on the more expensive side, so we were glad we had a gift certificate the atmosphere was nice! Kinda cold, bring a sweater. The service was so great! They brought me a blanket and turned on an outdoor heater for me. The second time we went to Log Haven was for Christmas Eve dinner 2013. It was a set menu, food was EXCELLENT. Again, pricey, but for a holiday meal totally worth every penny. Also, both times there was a man playing the piano that was pretty impressive. Great for special occasions. We'll definitely be going back.

Loved this place. The food was fresh and prepared excellent. They boast farm to table and I was not disappointed. It was intimate and quite, we had a table by the fireplace which only added to the ambience. It will be on my list for places to go back to.

Great food, awesome restaurant location in the canyon of a national forest, cute cabin feel, and great service!

Log Haven was a wonderful Birthday Dinner. This little cabin is nestled in the middle of no where but not too far of a drive. At first we wasn't sure we were on the right path but came across it soon enough. Can't miss it. Directly across the street from a beautiful little waterfall. The decor and ambiance was so beautiful! The fireplace made the room so warm and toasty and added a nice little "winter touch." The food was amazingly delightful and the service was spot on. The waitress sent us home with a few chocolates- they were SO good! This is a perfect date night! Beautiful scenery, wonderful service, and delicious food. Dress up if you want it to feel extra special.

When a friend found out I was making a trip to Utah to visit my sister and brother-in-law, she recommended we go to Log Haven for dinner if we had a chance. We decided to go for dinner on my last night in town and the experience was absolutely delightful. Our waitress, Elise, was friendly and pleasant. When she found out it was or first time at the restaurant, she quickly talked is through the menu and specials, making sure to point out a meal that was eligible for a discount because we arrived before six pm. We started with bread and house-made hummus. I had the asiago roll, which had a wonderful crusty of cheese on top. My sister enjoyed her ciabatta roll and said she wished her hummus would come out as well as the restaurant's. My BIL also thought his sourdough roll was good, although he said he's had better. My sister and I both choose to go for lighter meals than the entrée offerings. I had the special said, a caprese made with heirloom tomatoes, and the risotto side dish. Both were absolutely wonderful and really hit the spot. I also has a glass of the best riesling I've ever taste. My sister had the nacho appetizer and the butter salad, both of which she highly enjoyed. Meanwhile, my BIL had the early bird surf and turf special, which he said was delicious. Although the venue is a little on the pricey side, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere just couldn't be beat. I strongly recommend Log Haven for a special occasion or a nicer evening out.

I've recently been deeply involved in my step-daughter's wedding at Log Haven. I had some complicated set-ups to accomplish, and was more than pleased with the full cooperation of Faith, Kacey and all kinds of staff members who pitched in to help me with my work, even though they were fully busy with theirs. They were likewise attentive throughout the ceremony and the meal. I was also impressed with the ease with which they moved us under cover and indoors when it was clear that it would be raining. A classy performance by Log Haven!

My wife and I tend toward Log Haven for special occasions. On this night out, we were presented with the Arancini we've ever had. I started the Evening with a High West Manhattan, and was please with this smooth starter. The wine list is superb and the wines we chose were very good paring nicely with the Bison (excellent.) I preferred this to my wife's Port Tenderloin so very happy with my choices. We were very full at this point so the desert menu didn't do much for us by the time we gave it a gander. Even still, we chose the Butterscotch Pot de Cream. It was good, but I prefer the purist's take on Creme Brulee. The coffee was excellent and wrapped the meal nicely. The service was top notch but this in truth is why I'm giving 4 start instead 5. The irony here is that our last trip to Log Haven had us seated with one of the best Bar Tender/Waiter we've ever had. So our expectations were very high on this trip. ~m

Best meal I have had in Utah!

Took the ladytron here for her birthday dinner. A party of 4 we had to navigate down a pretty icy yet doable road for our 8 PM dinner reservation. Having this been my first time in Utah it was fun yet definitely nervous looking out for random moose or deer crossing the road. Upon arrival our vehicle was promptly valeted (that poor attendant only had a small outpost to keep warm in, I tipped him well). The moon glistened on the snow across from the majesty of the waterfall across the road. Upon entering the beautiful and cozy decor of the cabin-theme eatery I was greeted by the host and he quickly rattled off my unique, long last name without skipping a beat. He said he was quite interested when I made the reservation and had been practicing it until he thought it was right. :) We waited in the lobby by the roaring fireplace listening to the beautiful working of the house pianist who - without solicitation - saw my girlfriend's "Happy Birthday" Tiara and began playing the HBD song to much delight. At this point in the evening I would've already given three stars just based on service alone. After waiting merely 10 minutes or less while they prepped our table of 4 we were given our menus by probably the great waiter I have had the pleasure of meeting. Charming, hilarious and good-natured enough to provide us creepy, haunted facts about the premises (we were in a discussion about scary locations of Utah and ghost stories) and told us of the rich history of the property. The food: from the Bison to the Trout and other dishes in between everything we ordered bordered on the divine to the heavenly. You definitely get what you pay for here. The desserts were rich and delicious. I had the pleasure of sampling the caramel custard/flan dish which I wished would go on endlessly. Overall, a definite must-have food adventure much more than a mere dinner outing.

This place reminds me of Silver Fork a great deal, in that many of those same qualities apply. This review will seem similar to that in several respects, though I will modify it to be more specific. This place has a ton going for it, starting with ambiance. The drive either kind of sucks or is breathtaking, depending on your mood for the day, but either way, it's a good jaunt to get to it. Is it worth it? As one of those special occasions, things, sure. The view is, predictably, given the location, spectacular, especially in fall. The service can frequently be slow, sometimes agonizingly slow, which, again depending on your mood, either gives you ample time to take in the scenery and atmosphere or your date or whatever or is an annoyance. The food ranges from good to very good. I'd put almost everything I had in the latter category there and the last time I was there, they had some fairly unique offerings that I hadn't seen in the valley. However, as regular readers have probably already determined, I'm also kind a lazy and not really prone to long drives to eat, unless the food is jaw-droppingly good. For all they do right here, it doesn't, alas, meet that particular qualification. Where this place differs from the other is that Silver Fork has sort of ski lodge/brewpub aspect to it, this is more geared towards fine/romantic dining, with a shift in the menu and ambiance of the place accordingly.

Superb dinner! Log Haven hit a home run last night. I dine here semi-regularly and last night's dinner was exceptional. We had the best corner table and the restaurant was full last night (Fri). Our waiter had a keen interest in food and he spoke of the menu items in great detail. My two guests were so impressed with the evening. I am upset that the trout dish - my favorite - was changed recently. The current version is ok; the former version was life changing! Winners: Tuna Tartare, Scallops, Steak & Lobster special, Goat Cheescake (a MUST for desert...it's small, don't worry.). The chef comes up with great sauces for almost every dish. Both hosts (the big one and the little one) we're on top of things and charming as we toured the restaurant rooms after dinner. Bottom line...Log Haven is a truly unique experience (located deep in a national forrest). The food is wonderful and the venue is pure magic.

Where do I begin? The hubs and I were married on the beautiful grounds of Log Haven in 2011. I will forever love everything about that day. I think Log Haven is the perfect place to celebrate and I'm so glad we did it there. The staff was super supportive and kind to us. I'll always remember Joni and be grateful for her help. We had our ceremony near the lake and it was gorgeous! The reception followed and was held outside on the restaurant patio. I thought the food was fantastic. I'm really happy we did our wedding there!

Got married in the library room and it was a great experience. Our friends still mention how much they enjoyed the wedding and the food. Also great for dinner.

First visit and the view is great with the water fall and patio. Flies were a bit annoying though. Service was ok, but not great. We had asked for a heater on the patio and it took several requests before someone brought a blanket for the person in our party who was freezing. Ordered a second beer and the sever forgot. Another person ordered coffee after dinner and we had to remind them to bring it. Food quality was good. We ordered a couple of appetizers including polenta and the crab cakes. They were tasty. Had the steak and lobster. Flavor was good and lobster wasn't rubbery. Dessert was good as well with one person ordering creme brûlée and another ordering the lava cake. Overall, we liked the restaurant and everyone was hospitable. Hope to return again.

The greatest aspect of Log Haven is its atmosphere. The scenic drive up the canyon, eating next to a waterfall, and sitting in the comfort of a beautiful lodge are well worth the visit. Service is also wonderful--the staff were all very friendly and surprisingly knowledgeable about the history of the location. As for the food, it was about what you would expect from a gourmet restaurant--lots of visual appeal, and well prep'ed meals. The only disappointment I experienced was with the lack of surprise or astonishment in regards to either their food selection of the eating experience itself. The food is definitely great, but it certainly won't challenge your expectations.

I had just arrived in Salt Lake City from NYC and LA, so I was ready to get out and experience the mountains while enjoying some dinner too. This was a great way to kill two birds with one stone, and not drive too far from the city to do it. Within 15 minutes from the 215, I was at the restaurant and surrounded by lovely mountains and a couple of waterfalls. But as the other reviewers noted, this place has more to offer than just nature. It's a serious restaurant with a noteworthy wine list and a menu of great options that made it difficult for me to choose. The first courses alone were so tempting that I almost bypassed the entrees. The olive bread was warm and tasty, the accompanying spicy hummus was a perfect accompaniment and my entree was outstanding. I chose the smoked duck and serrano chili pasta -- it was absolutely fabulous. The duck was not overly "gamey" and the sauce was killer. Charles the waiter was also quite a character, knowledgeable, generous and seemed like a perfect fit for the place. A great time!
(4)Sophia D.
This place is in a beautiful location. I was absolutely "wowed" by all the nature that surrounded me and really enjoyed the ambiance that the place gave off. I got the surf & turf (lobster and steak) - which was exquisite and cooked perfectly. The lobster was especially good. This was definitely a great meal and I would definitely come back again.
(5)Ando N.
My wife and I visited Log Haven 2 years ago for dinner. The food was exceptional and the service was even better. The restaurant is tucked away in Millcreek canyon and has phenomenal views of nature. Definitely recommend anybody who hasn't been there to go for dinner..

Our wedding here was perfect. Log Haven was amazing. Not only were Faith and Kacey SO easy to work with, they were also super flexible. It rained on our day, and our wedding was supposed to be outside but Faith rearranged everything and it ended up being even more beautiful, and so easy for me. We wanted a special menu that wasn't something they offered, and they created it for us no problem, and it was DELICIOUS. Everyone, I mean everyone, said it was the most delicious food they've ever had at a wedding. I couldn't recommend them more.
(5)K Sera S.
Utterly charming, nestled-in-the-woods loveliness. Typically attentive to the point of near-sycophantic Salt Lake service (not that there's anything wrong with that). Started with the grilled calamari, which was delicately seasoned and perfectly cooked. Chewy but not at all rubbery. The Brussels sprouts were also well prepared, although I could have lived without the pancetta pieces. A small frisee salad was, indeed, small, but just right as a transition to the entree. I was going to have the bison, but then I saw elk on their specials. Hey, there's a hoofed animal I hadn't eaten before, so how could I say no? It was very nice and tender, although if you put a gun to my head, as was doubtless done to my elk, I couldn't have told it from beef. The vanilla panna cotta was a bit bland, but certainly wasn't horrible. Not like I left a scrap of it....

There's a lot to live up to given the price and what the restaurant promises. Some of it is very good if you like overly complex dishes with too many flavors that get muddled up. Sometimes they can be so pretentious it makes me want to stay away forever. On the other hand, it's a beautiful facility. I was on the line for 2 vs 3 stars, but I just can't say it's OK for me. I realize this is the lowest rated review at this point. But, they want to be the best and that means being held up to a certain standard they just never reach for me and my wife. She is generally less harsh than I and agrees with what I've written. My first time here was before Margo Provost owned the place and it was in complete disrepair. It's much nicer now. I've met Margo socially, and know what a treasure she is to the Utah hospitality industry. I would really like to have a great experience here, but in 30 years of trying, I have yet to get it. At least the location has been restored to a fantastic state during that time. I'm willing to spend a lot of money for the right experience. I've spent over $500 for dinner a handful of times and more than $1000 for dinner for two. I've walked away from those places wishing I had enough to do it again. Here I've always walked away wishing I had spent my money at any one of several other places in the State that are always guaranteed to hit all three highs. That's food, service and environment. The only place Log Haven has hit the highs each time is environment. I've always had at least one serious problem with the food and service. It's not that the food isn't competent. I have never had a meal that wasn't muddled by too many flavors. Usually, there's been an accompanying issue with service, or overcooking something. I have never had a meal where someone at the restaurant didn't mar the experience by talking down to me, or having to send the entree back. Sorry guys. I've probably eaten out at more nice restaurants than most everyone in your staff put together across nearly every major city in the US and 5 other continents. I haven't mentioned the wedding meal I had here. Being done on premises, they should not have had as much dried out food as they did. It was a beautiful wedding and a wonderful place, but the food was not much better than the standard Marriott type catering. Perhaps, one day I'll get a really good meal here, but it will have to be with somebody else's money because I've spent all of my money here I'm going to.
(2)Jennifer B.
I had never eaten here, but we booked Thanksgiving lunch here. It was a perfect atmosphere for Thanksgiving--very cozy and inviting. However, it felt a little too much like I was stuck in a back room of a forgotten poor grandmother's home. My food was average. I had soup and salmon and a creme brulee desert (which only resembled creme brulee because the top was crusted). Others in my party had steak, which they said was average at best. I will likely not try this restaurant again because my food was average, the steaks were bleh, and it's a bit off the beaten path.
(3)Grace S.
My husband and in-laws enjoyed a fancy dinner here for my husband's birthday around Halloween. The servers wore costumes and the restaurant was decorated for the occasion. I love the location--very quiet and seems almost like another world at the top of Millcreek canyon. I was impressed with the food. We ordered a special pumpkin soup and I tried their arugula salad which contained chicory, I think. Both were good, but certainly the best thing I ate was the bison steak. It was sliced thinly and cooked to a medium rare. The price of the meal was high, but that was expected and the service was very sophisticated, polite yet fun. I would recommend this restaurant above Stein Ericksen's Glitretind or Forage, two similarly priced places I've eaten in SLC/Park City.
(5)Matthew B.
The location is incredible. The beautiful landscape and decor make this a place for special occasions. My GF surprised me by taking me here for my birthday, so I was already in a great mood walking in. However, once we walked in, there was no one to greet us. We waited about a solid five minutes while servers walked by without acknowledging our presence (It was not busy either). A server finally asked us if we were being helped, and placed us at a table on the stunning outdoor patio. Someone immediately delivered bread and water. Then--and this is no lie--we waited over 15 minutes before being helped again. We had to ask someone else's server to track our server down. He had forgotten that we had ordered a bottle of wine when we did finally order. The manager came to the table to apologize for the untimely service and assured us that this wasn't normal business. He then brought us an appetizer on the house. The food was amazing, seriously. I had the special which was a lobster and filet, and my GF had the filet. Everything was cooked exactly as we ordered it. We ordered the lava cake for dessert (which wasn't liquid in the middle like you would expect, but it was delicious. I had a really bad service experience my first time there, but that doesn't mean I'm not going back. After reading other reviews, this place seems spotty, and I think I just hit a bad spot. If nothing else, I'm going back for the atmosphere.

Very beautiful restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. My wife and I had a relaxing, romantic dinner. I highly recommend Log Haven.
(4)Perpetual K.
My wife and I had dinner here on our last night visiting SLC. This is fine dining at its best with great service, a wonderful romantic atmosphere, and excellent food. I had an elk steak, she had a tuna tartar type dish, we both shared a chocolate lava cake, and it was all very well done. Also, the Log Haven itself is located within a park so the atmosphere outside was really magical that night (before leaving we took a walk across the street to see a little waterfall in the park). That being said - you will be paying top dollar for this experience! So I would highly recommend Log Haven for a special occasion (or if you have a business expense account or if you're rich). The only negative comment I have is the large group seated next to us was obnoxiously loud and one knucklehead kept asking for beignets. Kudos to the waitress who handled them patiently and professionally. She told him politely that Log Haven doesn't have beignets but he kept asking (rudely) for them as if his peanut size brain couldn't comprehend this earth-shattering news. Overall, I highly recommend Log Haven for a fantasic dinner especially if you're visiting from out of town!
(4)Ana M.
The restaurant is beautiful and the surroundings are amazing. The snow covered trees, and the waterfall provided an absolutely fantastic view. Our server and the hostess were very good--now the matre d', he was pretentious and made sure the couple sitting next to us felt like they did not belong (shameful). The food was good. We had the Tuna Tartare for appetizer. It was a very complicated dish. The pairing of tuna, avocado, and the cheese wafers was great. The pickled mushrooms were too strong and did not pair well with the delicate flavors of the other ingredients. For the main entree I had the Scallops and the Risotto. The Risotto was rich and delicious; the hazelnuts were an excellent touch for flavor and texture. The mushroom consomme was amazing. I could just have a had a cup of it with some crusty bread. The scallops were just ok. They were cooked well but their taste was too sharp. I love sea food and good sea food should not be "fishy." My husband had the bison. The bison was very mellow, not gamey at all. The sweet potato fingerlings and the Brussels sprouts were very good. The best part of the meal was dessert. We ordered the Blonde Chocolate Tart, and it took me back to my childhood. The chocolate crust was good but the best part was the filling. It tasted just like the Dulce de Leche I grew up eating in the Dominica Republic, which is different from Mexican Dulce de Leche. It is not a sauce but more like a caramel fudge. It was absolutely amazing.

If you have guests coming in from out of town, this is the perfect restaurant for hosting. The scenery is incredible. It is a nice drive up Millcreek Canyon. The service has always been top-notch and the food is exquisite. I would highly recommend Log Haven!

Even though I am divorced now, I had a beautiful wedding here 10 years ago and i still love coming here. The ambience is unsurpassed with waterfall into a lake across the street and a patio in the woods, amazing! So romantic. The food is really good too. Service is par and not stiff. Temps r cooler so bring a jacket even in the summer.

WOW... just... WOW!!! My best friend was married at Log Haven last night, and it was spectacular. BEAUTIFUL atmosphere, and amazing staff.. lookin' at you, Brenda G.! Everyone loves weddings for an open bar and free food. I don't know why, I just had a gut feeling that since the atmosphere was so amazing, the food was gonna suck... boy was I wrong! The food was outstanding. I don't know if it is an option on their dining menu (I would imagine it is) or if it is just a wedding option, but the bison was to die for. I also tried a friends pork chop, also delicious. The whole night was a dream. My best friend is the greatest person ever, and I am so happy they made her wedding, truly, the best day of her life!! I can't wait to go back with my husband on a date night. Happy 100th review to me!!!!

Log Haven is definitely on my favorites list after my first visit there earlier this month. I live in DC, but was visiting SLC over my birthday. My boyfriend planned dinner at Log Haven for my birthday, and he definitely earned a few brownie points after our wonderful dinner! The ambiance is perfect for a special night out, tucked away in trees, candle lit, and IMPECCABLE service. All of the waiters/waitresses knew everything there was to know about the menu. We started out with the Alpine Nachos and the Grilled Calamari, both which were amazing. I'm not certain I've ever had anything before like these nachos, but I know I'll be heading back to Log Haven for em' next time I am in town. For our main courses, he had the trout and I had a surf n turf special. Both of us enjoyed our meals (and cleaned our plates). Since we were there to celebrate, we had to order dessert! Their lava cake beats out all the lava cakes I've had before. All in all, wonderful!!!
(4)Carl J.
One of our favorite restaurants. Besides the lovely ambiance - at any time of the year - we have noticed that the chefs have improved tremendously over the years : their creativity and excellent skills are highly appreciated!
(5)Jason V.
Just had an anniversary dinner at Log Haven. The wife and myself had a wonderful time. The food quality is above average and the service is good. If you're looking for someplace that is amazingly romantic, this would be the one place. If you choose to sit inside, ask to be seated so you can see the waterfall.
(4)Tiffany J.
I've been here twice the first time was definitely a five-star the second time more like a three-star so I meeting in the middle at four stars. The food is incredible no matter what obviously the chef knows what he's doing. They carry straight-line wine which is hands-down one of the best wines I've had in the restaurant especially in Utah. The first server we had knew everything about the menu he was extremely courteous to us really nice, pulled out my chair, was a true gentleman, made us feel extremely welcome. He was quite a bit older so that was probably the reason he understood fine dining. our second server was pretty young ,seemed annoyed by us didn't know the menu very well. I will always come back for the food because it is great and the wine of course. the only complaint is the service which I expect to be perfect. Especially considering you do do not walk out of this restaurant under $200 for two people.
(4)B W.
Food was very good, but portions are small and prices are large. I left the restaurant hungry, even after eating an appetizer, salad, steak dinner and desert--all snack portions. I'm not into fancy presentations--I just want a very good meal that is filling. Service was very good and friendly. After dining I went home and ate dinner. I will not go back and do not recommend this restaurant, unless you're a light eater and love to spend money for small meals.

What an amazing meal! Great service, great cocktails (try the Mediterranean martini) great wine list, super food! Surf and turf was to die for, shrimp and risotto had beautiful balance and spice and the tofu was creative and tasty. The setting was magical with a skiff of snow. Don't miss this place.

I took my parents here for a holiday dinner last night. I have been trying to take them here every time I visit SLC over the last couple of years and each time they talk me out if it because it is decently pricey. Not this time, I pretty strongly insisted and got my way :-). Come on folks, my treat!!!! You did provide me with a college education, did you not? ;-) We enjoyed everything, from the cozy ambiance of the tucked away cabin covered in snow and icicles, to the fireplace and live music, to candlelight, to amazing service. I must say that service was very attentive without being overbearing. Thank you, David! We ordered a taste of Alpine Nachos, elk carpaccio, and arugula salad as appetizers. My dad and I both had the bison steak, and my mom went for the crispy trout with soba noodles. We also had coffee and coconut soufflé and walnut tart for dessert. Everything was fantastic and we all cleared our plates. If we weren't in public, I'm pretty sure my mom and I would be licking our plates clean, but this place definitely calls for some manners :-). The portion size is just right as well, so even after having dessert we did not feel stuffed, just pleasantly full. The only item I did not enjoy was the pumpkin Grenache on the walnut tart, but that is a matter of personal taste and didn't take away from the meal. That was the only thing left on any of our plates during the evening. The wine recommended by David was excellent as well, and...gasp...the least expensive one out of the reds by the glass. I would love to return here on my next visit to SLC.

This place definitely has a beautiful setting up in Millcreek canyon. The trees, the waterfalls, the landscaped walk up to the restaurant....gorgeous! There was a wedding on the back patio, so we didn't get a real close look, but it looked like that would be a fantastic place to enjoy an afternoon meal. On to the inside - the first thing we noticed was the place had a few interesting smells. The entry way smelled strongly of fish, and once we were seated, we noticed that the place had a slightly musty smell. The atmosphere inside is really dark, candles on every table - very romantic. The temperature inside the restaurant was very hot - even with my back to the open window, I was burning up. The food was good, but it didn't blow me away. We had two appetizers (polenta ravioli and alpine nachos). The ravioli was delicious, the nachos we could've done without. For entrees, I had the bison new york strip, and the meat was cooked perfectly, I loved the carmelized cauliflower, but the fingerling potatoes were undercooked and pretty inedible. The chicken breast was just ok, but my boyfriend said he probably wouldn't get it again. Dessert was creme brulee with a blueberry coulis - the top was perfectly carmelized, the coulis was delicious, but the custard was very bland. The service was very slow. I'm all for enjoying a leisurely meal, but we spent over two hours at the restaurant, most of it just trying to catch the waitresses eye. So, slow service, good (albeit inconsistent) food, and gorgeous setting sums up my experience. That being said, I do wonder if the large wedding they were serving slowed things down and reduced quality. We will probably venture back at some point to give them a second chance and to enjoy the back patio.

Now that's what I'm talking about! This place is hyped as much as La Caille for high-end food in Utah, so I was cautious. La Caille turned out to be a joke...would I be disappointed by Log Haven? Well, I knew David Jones was the chef again, having recently returned from Bambara, and he was an excellent chef. So what could go wrong? Log Haven is located a few miles into Millcreek Canyon...a scenic drive during nice weather...somewhat less pleasant in inclement weather. Parking is limited so complimentary valet parking is required. The restaurant is, in fact, in a log cabin that has been added onto over the years. It is marvelously quaint and rustic. What a romantic destination. We were immediately greeted and seated. The server was very friendly and efficient though we were taken aback by the informality of such an expensive place. Diners were dressed in a wide spectrum jackets and ties to jeans and t-shirts. In any case, we were there to sample the early-bird special...a two-course steak and lobster meal for $25. This was available until 6pm every night at which time it would cost $35. It looked like the majority of diners in the room had the same idea. We were served an amuse bouche consisting of arancini, a fried ball of risotto. It was tasty though a little dry, and missing the pice of sausage that was supposed to be hidden inside. But it was free which is always a good thing. We actually added an appetizer, a grilled calamari dish for $13. The portion size was generous and consisted of perfectly grilled squid pieces accompanied by bits of various peppers and dressed with a tomato coulis and a lime aioli. The dish was wonderfully balanced with briny pieces of squid offset by the tangy richness of the lime aioli. The tomatoes and peppers added depth. A wonderful and satisfying dish...I was so happy since the least bit of inattentiveness can turn squid into rubber. The dinner itself was nice, but you could see the limited food cost that went into it. There were a scant two pieces of broccolini, nicely crisp and tasty, with a small pice of top sirloin and a small lobster tail (the size of a jumbo shrimp). I had mine with a baked potato. What can I say, it all tasted delicious...it just left me wanting more. The steak was perfectly done though it was, as expected from a top sirloin, quite chewy. Nevertheless, it was handled with respect, it had a good texture, and it was nicely beefy. The dwarf lobster tail was also nicely, respectfully done. It was tender and succulent...again, I would have liked more than two bites. Overall, the experience was wonderful. The setting was great without being tacky (do you hear me La Caille?), the service was impeccable, and the food was great. The "deal" wasn't as much of a bargain as it seemed. They probably did not lose any money on it (the food costs are probably in line with what was charged), and EACH soda was charged, kind of a bummer. But we will definitely return, and try some of the real entrees. What a great place!

It's a bit of a trek to get here but that trek (25 mins from downtown) is highly rewarded. Located in a National Park, this century old, quaint, log cabin restaurant provides charm, incredible service, a strong wine list, and exceptional fare. The food in New American - think sophisticated and modern comfort food. Make sure to try the Nachos. 3 best tables are the 2 by the fireplace and the one in the corner with full views of the park. A true culinary "haven."

My boyfriend and I are visiting from out of town and we decided to splurge at Log Haven for a lovely, romantic dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful, warm, and cozy. When driving we thought we missed it - it is situated in the middle of a national forest! The ambiance is that of old world charm and class. Their menu was quite enticing. We are both vegetarian and we had checked in advance online to make sure they had vegetarian options. We informed the server of our dietary restrictions and she was enthusiastic about the vegetarian options. We started with a winter squash bisque that was unbelievable! It was extremely flavorful and it came with half a roasted apple with cream - lovely! The portion was generous and it was enough for us to split. Next, we shared 'tastes' of two salads, one with dried root vegetables and one with romaine and poblano-lime dressing. The tastes were small but just enough for us to appreciate the delicacy of the flavors. All the while, we were also enjoying fresh warm rolls. Here's where it started to go a little downhill. We ordered the squash risotto (made with spelt) to share as an entree and a side of roasted brussel sprouts. The risotto was very good EXCEPT it had a distinctive bacon flavor. I checked with the server (who was highly attentive and very kind, by the way) and she confirmed it was vegetarian. However, she said other people complained about that too, and then she tried to tell me it was the spelt that made it taste like bacon. I don't know how a grain can taste like bacon. Furthermore, vegetarians don't like meat flavors, so I was disappointed that their main entree had such a powerful meaty taste. My boyfriend thought it was good but he tasted the bacon too. It took away some of my joy about the wonderful dinner. Also, the brussel sprouts were delicious, but again there was a catch. I tried to eat some of the roasted leaves that had fallen off and it turns out they were DEFINITELY pieces of meat that the brussel sprouts had been cooked with. Since we had told our waiter in advance we were vegetarian, I was very disappointed (and a little disgusted). Not wanting to complain again, I didn't say anything, although in retrospect I wish I had. The experience improved again for dessert, when we had a delicious maple creme brulee. It was quite a generous portion and it was out-of-this-world good. (We eat a lot of creme brulee). It also came with sweet, homemade bambolinis (fried donut holes) and an addictive huckleberry coulis sauce. (Also, our wine was under ten dollars a glass and very good - I had a dry reisling and my boyfriend a red zinfandel, as well as the house porter). All in all, it was a lovely experience in a beautiful environment. However, while my boyfriend and I are more than willing to invest one hundred dollars on a wonderful culinary experience, I was quite disappointed that the entree was such a letdown and that our server didn't warn us about the meat in the brussel sprouts.

We found this place online, read the awesome reviews, and thought we'd give it a try. We were just in town for the weekend, so we really only had one night where we could have a nice dinner. This place is perfect for a romantic dinner on a special occasion. t was a bit outside of town and in a rustic setting. We sat outside and received excellent service. I can't remember what I had, but do know that my husband had the elk tenderloin and really enjoyed it.

Location, location, location!! We were looking for somewhere unique to go for our "nice dinner" in SLC recently. I got pretty unanimous recs from Yelpers and from local literature that Log Haven was the place to go for that rustic lodge-y atmosphere. And it was gorgeous! Although, when we followed the directions via Yelp, it told us that the restaurant was located right BEFORE you enter the park while in actuality it is several miles in. Luckily we didn't have to pay an entrance fee or anything. Just keep driving, you'll see it! Since that made us late for our reservation, I was a little miffed that we didn't get to check out the grounds before dinner or take a picture by the waterfall, but it was really nice to see the sunset from inside at our table! Oh, and apparently I had made the reservation for the NEXT day, but they were super nice about accomodating us and not making me feel like a jackass :) So the people were nice, the place is really cute (used to be a house someone built for his true love, aww), and most of the food was great! Our starter was a fried (tempura'd? how quickly I forget) short rib dish. The eggplant that came with it seemed kind of like an afterthought and did nothing for the dish. In any case, it was very unusual and pretty tasty, although I was kind of leaning toward the Alpine nachos because they sounded much more unique. My husband decided on the Elk "NY Strip" and I was wavering between the pork loin and the bison. Our very sweet waitress told me the bison was her favorite thing on the menu, so I went with that. And thank goodness!! It was FANTASTIC. 5 or 6 strips of meat with a heavenly rosemary flavor and the sides and sauce all went perfectly together. Unfortunately the Elk steak was more like a tiny filet and was pretty unexciting for him. Definitely a very lean cut of meat, which is not his favorite. And SMALL. We also shared a really delicious lychee cocktail--it was small too, but tasty. The red wine the waitress recommended for the bison to me seemed a little too light, but it was alright. Don't remember what it was. We went with her recommendation again for dessert--another good choice. It was the frozen coconut-pineapple souffle thingy. I was really in the mood for something hot like a cobbler but there wasn't really anything like that on the menu. There was a pear tart but we weren't really feeling it. The souffle pretty much tasted like fried ice cream, but it was great, and very artfully presented. I have no idea when we'll ever have the opportunity to go back, but I recommend it to anyone looking for that special meal in Salt Lake City!

Some of the best food in Utah. The food is fresh, authentically (but inventively) Western, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the service is fantastic. I got the bison steak and it was amazing. The maple creme brulee is awesome, too - and you can tell a good restaurant by the quality of its creme brulee.

My Arizona roomie always dreamed about getting married at the mountain, and yesterday, her dream came true! This place is scenic, with a beautiful lake and has got eye catching water that spills out of the rocks. As an outdoor wedding, this has made me a converter in really enjoying the outdoors. The location has beautiful greens that really make the place very photo-esque. Now lets talk food. Absolutely fantastic! We ate salad with balsamic dressing, fresh bread rolls, and delicious prime rib. The food was so superb, I ate seconds. YUM!! The location, view, and food makes this an excellent choice in a wedding or party venue!

A group of us went to this restaurant for a special dinner. Before dinner, the service was excellent, everyone had plenty to drink and eat, and the appetizers were excellent, especially the fried artichoke. For dinner, we had a choice of chicken, filet mignon or swordfish. Most of us chose the chicken or filet and no one on was disappointed. Some of us struggled with the grilled artichoke. The polenta served with the chicken was excellent. Dessert was a excellent chocolate layer cake. For the people in our party that were nut allergies, they prepped a special salad and dessert. Lastly, all of our group were technology managers and none of our blackberry's or iphone's were working due to coverage. Maybe that's what made the event even better since no one could be distracted by their cell phones!

Excellent. Great experience and I am going back again. Terrific food.

My wife and I had a very good dinner here. We sat outside on the patio. It was perfect mountain evening weather with a great little water feature adding to the ambiance. The inside dining is cozy and rustic but just a bit stuffy for my taste. Appetizers .... Crab cake moist and flavorful and Grilled Calamari excellent. Bison Rib eye was good w. pomme frites and brussel sprouts glazed w. bacon very good. Fresh cliantro Pappardelle (homemade pasta dish) w. poblano chiles was very good The service was attentive. The wine list was good but a bit over priced. Log Haven is not a cheap place but overall I felt the quality of the food and the atmosphere made it a good value.

What a wonderful place! Log Haven is in a very romantic setting - log cabin deep in the mountains. We were lucky enough to sit next to the fireplace and see the snows on the trees outside the windows. The food was fantastic, service was great and the atmosphere was unique to SLC!

This venue was absolutely beautiful when I was in my sisters wedding. Everyone from the wait staff and bartenders, to the wedding planner team was extremely hepful and accomodating for the big day. Everything went exceptionally well and their professionalism and experience were top notch. They seemed to think of everything and always had a plan b ready to go. They have more than one scenic option for the ceremony ranging from in front of a beautiful pond to infront of a cascading waterfall. The reception area was intimate and the perfect size with indoor and outdoor seating options. They even bought out cozy fleece blankets for the guests when the night cooled down. An awesome place for a wedding and reception. They made my sisters wedding for lack of a better word, perfect.

Even more magical in the summer, when you can sit outside by the waterfall and enjoy the late day sun. Food and service are still impeccable, and the combination of both those and the location make it still a wonderful place for that special occasion meal.

Living up to their name, Log Haven delivers fine dining in a wooded retreat far from the bustle of Salt Lake City - and only a mere 25-minute drive from downtown. The rustic yet classy feel is completed by the sound of their own waterfall in the back or the rushing creek across the street. We knew these folks were in a league of their own the moment we were each served an unexpected delight - a tempura prawn in a Thai ginger sauce . Our entrees, the petite filet and lobster tail, were beyond exquisite. In 35 years of dining around the U.S. and Canada I can't recall savoring every bite of a lobster tail like this. Hope I didn't embarass myself, but after the bottle of Kuentz-Bas Alsace I didn't much care! Ian Campbell, the friendly and proficient manager/owner, informed me that the head chef used to work his magic at the Hollins House in Scotts Valley, CA (our old stomping ground). Their loss - Log Haven's gain. SLC is a fun city but a trip up the mountain to Log haven is a MUST!

It was between La Caille and Log Haven for Valentine's Day - I really go for the romantic atmosphere. But I'd been to La Caille a few times (and I am a fan), so I decided to risk it with a restaurant I'd not been to. WOW am I glad I did. Perfection. From the second we drove up to the great valet crew. The setting is so understated. The hostess could not have greeted us with a warmer welcome. Our waiter, Kevin, was, hands down, the best in Salt Lake City. Chef Jones' food was perfection - and the pricing was shockingly reasonable - particularly given the unparalleled romantic atmosphere. A table right in front of the fireplace, a perfect wine selection - understated perfection all the way around. This is a place to share with someone special. Luckily I was :)

We went for my wife's birthday dinner with our son and three friends. We had not been to Log Haven since 2002. It was spectacular! They served some special nachos. These were done on top of homemade potato chips instead of tortilla chips. WOW! I am a huge fan and advocate of prime beef. Choice has been all that you can find for years unless you pay an arm and a leg at a VERY fancy steakhouse. You are starting to see prime more and more. Not only did they have prime but they also had "dry aged" prime beef. This is the ABSOLUTE best of all worlds. The steak was great. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The scenery is fantastic and the ambience is second to none.

Made our reservation for 5:30 and when my wife was running late, called at 3:30 and actually got a person and was able to pushback the reservation. Went before 6:30 and got their early bird special. Beautiful view in the canyon. $95 for an appetizer, two specials, two desserts, a glass of wine and a soda! The meal was well paced, being there for our anniversary it gave us time to talk and let the food settle. We were never wondering where out next course was. Food was very good, the only thing that would have improved it would have been a bit more salad dressing on the salad. Some might think that the portions of the main meal were small, but I thought they were just right. We walked away full! Great staff as well! There were 8 other tables being used in the main room and a large wedding on the patio and to be honest, it was perfect. Not too dead and not a lot of people around.
(5)Jocelyn E.
Waiter was a totally foodie and it was nice to hear someone suggest food that was genuinely passionate about it. They have a piano player that really set the mood for a romantic dinner. I had the bison it was excellent. Scallops were good we weren't huge fans of the rice underneath the scallops. The alpine nachos were different a half order is plenty for 2 people. We loved it will be back!

Came here for a business dinner with 12 people. The service was excellent, even for such a large group, we had very attentive servers. It would be an excellent place to take a date, too -- they had lots of intimate tables for two. Entrees were good -- all of them seemed to have very high quality ingredients, and were expertly prepared. My own entree was OK, not great, but everyone else seemed to be happy with their food. For the two vegetarians at the table, the chef whipped up some special risotto based on their likes/dislikes. The vegetarians were really psyched about their meal. The desserts were very good as well, although they all seemed to be born of the philosophy "more is more" -- very rich and decadent, not at all subtle or delicate. I'm not giving this place 5 stars because I really didn't feel like the food was that inventive or original. Everyone seemed happy with their food, but nobody raved about their meal. Overall the food seemed great but not excellent... maybe I'm being too harsh.
(4)Pria P.
I'm surprised this place only has one review! Attentive servers, delicious food, and a beautiful, rustic ambience. Housed in a lodge tucked high in the mountains, the restaurant offers gorgeous views of creeks and snow-capped peaks. The portions were perfectly sized- not too large. I know this place is known for its meat dishes, but I am vegetarian and the servers tailored a main great main course for me (spaghetti squash, mashed potatoes, and various veggies). They even had a vegetarian version of a meat appetizer made for me without my asking for it. The baked hot chocolate dessert was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had. The only con: limited parking spots = valet parking necessary = long wait in the cold to get your car at the end of the evening.
(5)Farah P.
My boyfriend brought me here for my 21st birthday (almost 2 years ago) and it will forever be my favorite birthday!!! Absolutely delicious. Heavenly.
(5)Merecedes G.
Location is amazing. Food is amazing. Wine selection is dismal (please get a somlier that actually drinks and expand your selection, its embarrasing). NYC prices and SLC service. Doesn't match up....spruce up the event staff and really make it a 5 star place. Has the potential. A+ on food and chef.
(3)Doug B.
Log Haven is holding up as one of the top restaurants in the Salt Lake area. Having eaten there off and on for over 15 years, it is nice to see a restaurant committed to high quality food and wine in an extraordinary setting. It's easily in the top 5 of Salt Lake area restaurants, and when the weather gets hot and you want to eat outside, it probably jumps to number 1.
(5)MC Free W.
Log Haven is one of those restaurants that should be reserved for special occasions when you have the time, inclination, and funds to dedicate an entire evening to romance and fine dining. You should be in the mood to get dressed up, take a leisurely drive up the canyon, eat several courses of high quality cuisine, drink plenty of good wine, and have scintillating conversation with someone special. Personally, I would not go to Log Haven unless it was with a beautiful woman I was trying to seduce. I just don't see the point in going with family or friends. Log Haven is just too damn romantic to waste it's soothing atmosphere and rapturous victuals on your mother. Advice to the guys; dress well, OK? Get some nice shoes. Chicks pay attention to shoes. And don't look at the bill. Just whip out the gold card like it's no big deal. In conversation, stay focused on her. Listen. Be confident, but always treat her like a lady. Log Haven will do the rest.
(5)brunho j.
The food was great and the service was great you cant beat the view truly amazing. There are plenty of review and awards that they have won because of the quality of their food so there is no need to go elaborate on that. The real reason we loved this place is because they allow you to bring your dog(s). You will need to make a reservation; but they will set up a special table in their amphitheatre for you and your dog, you are away from the general dining area so you wont bother anyone and there are plenty of other dog lovers there so you can still enjoy the atmosphere. They even have special items on the menu just for the pets. It's a fantastic idea and it was wonderful to see other dog lovers enjoying the food, view and opportunity to spoil their dog. The staff was so nice, they really love having animals there. Thank you Log Haven!!!!!
(5)Alan M.
The food is good, but maybe a little boring and certainly not the draw. Come here for passable cuisine and a nice atmosphere.
(3)Christine L.
This place was absolutely amazing! The views on the drive up to this place were gorgeous and the waterfall was beautiful. We arrived for dinner as the sun was setting and the waterfall surrounded by snow was breathtaking. The restaurant was warm and cozy and very private. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant with a great view of the waterfall. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. One of the most romantic nights of my life.
(5)Mark O.
The atmosphere and service were excellent, but the food the food was just ok. It was definitely better than average but not as good as I expected. The atmosphere gets five stars. The food gets three.
(4)Peter L.
Short ride up Mill Creek Canyon brings you to a large rustic log cabin. I found the food to be imaginative and the service to be excellent. Wine list was good and had some good choices in the $30 range. Apps were very large and plenty for 2 to share. Too full to try deserts but they sounded good! Typical evening offers 5 to 8 entree choices, the game offerings were truly excellent. Expensive but a very enjoyable evening.

I couldn't have been more disappointed in my interaction with Log Haven. I communicated with the venue every day for over a week, expressing my interest in a particular date. As I learned the necessary details, I was consistently assured that my date was available. I asked several times if it was necessary to provide any kind of down payment to reserve my date and was told it wasn't necessary. Once I was ready to officially announce my date to friends and family, I called Log Haven to provide my credit card information and officially reserve the venue. The individual I spoke with wasn't willing to take my credit card information and asked me to call back the next day, but did assure me that the venue was still available for me. I had a very short engagement, so at that point I communicated to friends and family the date the ceremony would take place and they began booking their flights into town. The next morning, I called Log Haven again to provide payment. Suddenly, I was told that the venue had just been reserved and was no longer available to me. Of course, I expressed my dissatisfaction and rather than being willing to work with me, the women in charge of booking the venue couldn't have cared less and ultimately hung up on me. This put me into complete panic mode and I looked for any venue I could find. Fortunately, Millcreek Inn, just down the street, was available and provided a magnificent experience. The people at Millcreek were completely the opposite of the people at Log Haven. They were legitimately interested in taking good care of me and ensuring the perfect experience. The people at Log Haven, on the other hand, acted like it was my pleasure to be working with them. I'd strongly encourage people to not utilize Log Haven's services. The people at Millcreek Inn are likely to provide a superior experience. ***Update: Margo, My wife and I spoke with the members of your staff every day for a week regarding an event at your location on a particular date. There was literally communication every day for five business days in a row. We continually asked how much urgency there was for us to put down a deposit and were given the impression that the date would be available to us if we committed in a timely fashion. After such intensive communication, I would think it would be common courtesy to give us a call and inform us that another couple was interested in the date and provide us with an opportunity to secure the event. Additionally, if there had been communication with the couple who ultimately reserved the date prior to the time they booked, there was no mention to us of that communication even though we consistently asked about the urgency to put down a deposit. Again, we called to place a deposit on the previous day and the individual we spoke with confirmed that the date was still available but was unwilling to take our deposit, and there was no call from anyone on your staff the following morning to take our deposit either. Since our call was not returned, we called the following morning only to find that your staff had simply booked the other couple even though we had expressed our desire to reserve the location first. My wife and I recall communicating with Faith and Kim regarding the reservation. Neither of us remember discussions with you. We could very well be wrong, but if you remember us then I would think that would be all the more reason to call us after such constant communication to give us first right of refusal. I am, however, certain that the individual who hung up on us was Faith and not yourself. For this reason, I think it is unfair and unfounded that you would say that we became "agitated, insistent, and verbally combative." Of course we were displeased that the venue we were planning on holding one of the more important days of our lives was suddenly not available to us. We were, however, hoping to work together to get some sort of back up plan in place rather than simply being hung up on. Again, I don't blame you personally for this as you were not the person who hung up on my wife and me. Lastly, I would like to communicate that I find it unprofessional to delete my negative review of your establishment on your Facebook page. Censoring the feedback on your site to only display the positive comments is deceitful and misleading.

(5)Erin W.
Had a great time here for my wife's birthday. The valet was complimentary you are just required to tip. Our server was probably one of the best servers I have ever had. I think his name was Clayton... He did an exceptional job! The food was great I had the pork and my wife the filet. For an appetizer we had the calamari which was a huge winner. I've had grilled calamari but the way they did it was so out of this world I'm still thinking about it. It tasted so fresh and had the perfect hint of smokiness from the grill. I think next time I would try the halibut I couldn't finish my pork.

Enjoy!
(5)Ann J.
One of my favorite restaurants in Utah. The food and service are excellent. And their canyon location does not get much better. I highly recommend dining here. Be sure to get the Alpine Nachos. They are worth every calorie.

(5)Vanh C.
We wanted fine dining so we chose this place. Te scenery was beautiful, the food was different. It wasn't spectacular but it was ok. I thought it was a little over price but overall we had a good experience. The dessert was my favorite. We had the coconut banana soufflé.

Great setting, very romantic. great service. The menu could be more original. The halibut was a little tasteless. But the pork and sauce was very good. Have been here for a couple of weddings in the summer. Beautifully done.
(4)Amy N.
Beautiful place with great service and food! A little far up into the mountains but worth the scenic drive. They also have a very beautiful water fall across the restaurant in the valet parking lot (free valet for guests). Definitely the place for a romantic evening out.

Well done.

This place is fantastic! Event though we got there at 9, the latest time for a reservation, the service was top notch. The food is phenomenal as well and the location, though tucked back a little far, is GORGEOUS. I HIGHLY recommend it!

My boyfriend brought me here for my 21st birthday (almost 2 years ago) and it will forever be my favorite birthday!!! Absolutely delicious. Heavenly.

The food is good, but maybe a little boring and certainly not the draw. Come here for passable cuisine and a nice atmosphere.

The atmosphere and service were excellent, but the food the food was just ok. It was definitely better than average but not as good as I expected. The atmosphere gets five stars. The food gets three.

(4)Remmy B.

Got married in the library room and it was a great experience. Our friends still mention how much they enjoyed the wedding and the food. Also great for dinner.
(5)Felix B.

(5)Hilah L.
(4)Rod S.

(5)Ana M.
(3)Jeff B.
If you have guests coming in from out of town, this is the perfect restaurant for hosting. The scenery is incredible. It is a nice drive up Millcreek Canyon. The service has always been top-notch and the food is exquisite. I would highly recommend Log Haven!
(5)Vida A.

(2)Brett M.
Very beautiful restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. My wife and I had a relaxing, romantic dinner. I highly recommend Log Haven.

Even more magical in the summer, when you can sit outside by the waterfall and enjoy the late day sun. Food and service are still impeccable, and the combination of both those and the location make it still a wonderful place for that special occasion meal.
